Birla Planetarium of Kolkata, is one of the largest planetarium in Asia and the second largest in the World. Birla Planetarium is a magnificent edifice set up by Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru on 2nd July 1963.

Birla Planetarium provides a affirmation where astronomical presentations take place. It provides useful piece of information about our solar system, life spam of stars, galaxies, planets, space and other heavenly bodies in the most interactive manner via audio video aids. Usually the lectures are given in English, Hindi and Bengali and rarely in Oriya, Tamil and Gujarati. Birla Planetarium also has an electronics laboratory and an astronomy gallery that has a collection of paintings and astronomical models.
