Dakshineswar Kali Temple, Kolkata is a historical temple built for about 8 years, the construction of which started in 1847 and was completed in 1855. Following Hindu temples and Puranas this temple entire work done. Originally built by Rani Rashmani, this temple worships Goddess Kali (Bhavtarini). There are also 11 other temples here, which are:

Dakshineswar Kali Temple, Kolkata Overview

Dakshineswar Kali Temple is one of the holiest place of eastern India. The presiding deity of the temple is Bhavatarini, an element of Kali, means ‘She who liberates her devotees from the sea of lifestyle’.

The temple founded by Rani Rashmoni of Bengal in 1855, According to history, Dakshineswar was a mere village nestled along the eastern bank of the River Ganges in the early phase of the 1800s. It is said that Rani Rashmoniof Janbazar, while on her pilgrimage to Varanasi, had a dream, where she was instructed to build a Kali temple. She was intensely moved by the dream and to materialize it, she instructed her people to search for suitable plots to erect the Kali Temple. After a long investigation for land, a 20-acres of land was finally selected in Dakshineswar village. Construction of the Dakshineswar Temple began in 1847 and it was completed in 1855. The Kali Temple of Dakshineswar was very much famous for the spiritual vision of Ramakrishna Paramhansa, a mystic of 19th century Bengal. There is a huge history of the relationship of Goddess Kali and Ramakrishna.

The temple compound, apart from the nine-spired fundamental temple, includes a big courtyard surrounding the temple, with rooms along the boundary walls. There are twelve shrines devoted to ShivaKali’s accomplice alongside the riverfront, a temple to Radha-Krishna, a bathing ghat on the river.

Dakshineswar Kali Temple is the centre 0f attraction during the Kali Puja. Dakshineswar temple beautifully decorated by Flowers and coloring lighting. However, Tuesdays and Saturdays are considered very auspicious days for Kali worship and the Sandhya Aarti is the prime attraction, which is truly amazing. How to reach?

Train:

Take any train from Howrah to Bandel and get off at Dakshineswar railway station, you will reach Dakshineswar temple after a short walk. You can also take a train to Bandel from Sealdah railway station and get down at Dakshineswar railway station to visit the temple.

Bus:

There are many buses going to Dakshineswar Temple from Kolkata, one of which you can easily reach the temple by getting on any of them. You can catch this bus from Esplanade, Kolkata.

Car:

You can also easily drive yourself. By taking the Barrackpore trunk road, you can directly reach this historical Dakshineswar temple.

Also you can easily reach the temple from any part of Kolkata by taking Kolkata Metro or taxi.

This temple open everyday.

Morning time: 6:00 AM to 12:30 PM

Afternoon & Evening Overall time: 3:00 PM to 9:00 PM

But morning is less crowded with extra people, so you can go during this time.

Also you can definitely fix the evening time to watch Sandhya Aarti.
