Approximately 180 km away from Kolkata on the Kolkata-Digha route is situated a largely unknown beach resort which is slowly making its way gathering popularity amongst travellers. A great place to just lie down on the beach, watch the setting sun against thrashing waves, Mandarmani is quite the experience. The longest motorable beach road in India, the stretch here is about 13 km long, tempting one to romp their car at full speed and have a thrill like no other.
Mandarmani beach is the first major attraction for tourists to enjoy the sea from early morning to late afternoon. From 3 pm people head to nearby resorts where beach bikes, ropeway etc. can be available. There are also some local shops that sell shells, handmade jewellery and handicrafts. Few locals groups also offer to take trip towards the mohana (Estuary) during sunset.
