I. Train:
Railway is the only mode of travel to Mirik Lake at low cost to reach Mirik Lake from Kolkata by rail, you need to reach New Jalpaiguri by train from Howrah or Sealdah and then take a private taxi or share taxi or bus and cover a distance of 52 km to reach Mirik Lake easily.
Time: Train taken time from Kolkata to New Jalpaiguri approx- 10-12 hours, and then taxi or bus 2.5-3 hours.
Cost: Train ₹350- ₹2200, Private Taxi ₹2000- ₹2500 , Share Taxi or Bus ₹100- ₹500 .
II. Air Way:
To reach Mirik Lake in the fastest way you have to choose air route, because by air you will reach Mirik Lake from Kolkata in 4 to 4.30 hours.
To get to Mirik from Kolkata by air you have to first take a flight from Kolkata to Bagdogra which will cost 3000 to 7000 rupees and then take private taxi 2500 to 3500 rupees or share taxi 500 to 700 rupees to reach Mirik lake.
III. Bus:
There are many public or private buses from Kolkata to Siliguri through which you can reach Mirik Lake. First reach Siliguri by bus from Kolkata to Siliguri and from Siliguri take a shared bus or taxi to reach Mirik Lake.
Time: Kolkata to Siliguri – Bus 12 to 14 hours, Siliguri to Mirik – share taxi 2.5 hours.
Cost: Kolkata to Siliguri – Bus ₹800 to ₹1500, Siliguri to Mirik – share taxi ₹100 to ₹600.
There is no entry fee to visit this Lake.
