Prinsep Ghat is a very popular historical structure in Kolkata. Located on the banks of the Hooghly River, was built in 1841 during the British period. It is named Prinsep Ghat in memory of the English scholar and archaeologist James Prinsep.

Prinsep Ghat is a popular tourist destination in Kolkata for spending time with your partner in a pleasant environment on the banks of the Hooghly River, taking pictures, boat rides, etc. The magnificent illumination of the Vidyasagar Bridge can be seen beautifully from Prinsep Ghat.

Boat Ride at Prinsep Ghat:

Boating at Prinsep Ghat is a very popular activity. There are 2 types of boats, one is a traditional wooden boat and the other is a speedboat, you can choose any of these 2 types of boats, but in our opinion you will enjoy the wooden boat more. The timings are from 6-9 AM and in the evening from 5-7 PM, but in our opinion if you go in the evening you can enjoy the beautiful view of the lights around.

This boat ride on the Hooghly River will take you around all the famous ghats of Kolkata and you can even enjoy the beauty of Howrah Bridge and Second Hooghly Bridge also.

Boat Ride Charges:-

The boating charges are INR 400 for 30 mins. A boat can accommodate 4 people, if there are 4 people, then the charge is 400 rupee. However, even if you go alone, then the same charges taken.

iv) Take a walk – it is an ultimate place to take a nice walk with your loved ones as it is wrapped with grove , lawns and umbrageous trees and when you feel tired there is also seating arrangements.

iii) Boat Service: There is a direct boat service from Howrah to Prinsep Ghat, where you can have a different experience.

iv) Metro: The nearest metro stations to Prinsep Ghat are Maidan and Esplanade. It takes just 10 minutes to walk from Maidan to Prinsep Ghat, or you can take an auto or bus from Esplanade.
